After going as far as I could in scientific research, gaining a degree, PhD and postdoctoral position in bioelectrochemistry, along with a number of peer-reviewed publications and two patents, I realised my true calling was financial planning.
At first glance, it might seem an odd career move, but the similarities between science and financial planning are remarkable. Both are complex, fast-moving worlds where important outcomes depend on patience, listening, critical thinking and cold analysis. In both, vast amounts of data need to be bent into shape, distilled into understandable chunks and presented in a way that creates confidence and clear actions.
Incredibly, I've now been doing exactly that for nearly 30 years. At Westminster Wealth Management, we draw on the technical expertise, research capability and financial planning experience you would expect from one of the UK's leading privately owned Chartered financial planning firms.
I particularly enjoy working with entrepreneurs and business owners. Life is really just a collection of numbers, financial and otherwise, but where we add value is by bringing laser-sharp clarity. We help clients focus on the numbers that matter, and matter most deeply.
Away from work, you'll usually find me training, playing or watching football with my son, Zwifting, birding, or listening to my daughter's latest concert or creative idea. My wife, who has a PhD in Molecular Genetics, shares my love of science, innovation, nature and music.
I'm endlessly fascinated by outliers, whether in business, science, nature or life itself.
